My mother named me after the spanish soap opera too! I guess it was a really popular novella lol. I have met people with the same name but never have a met a person who spelled like I do Yajaira. So it's good to know I am not the only one. I work as a admissions counselor that gets alot of international students and one of my students actually said that the name is Arabic and it means "Rare Diamond" which fits me to a tee! My father got the name from an eighties spanish soap opera. I used to hate my name when I was a little girl because I thought it was a weird name, now I love it. My name is so unique like myself it fits, my personality. Having this name all my life I got used to people mispronouncing it and misspelling it(for example"jahira"). In school some teachers would just call me by my last name which sort of got on my nerves because it felt as if they did not want to bother learning my name. I've met a few other yajairas some spell it different like Yahira or yahaira. Some of my friends and family call me yaya or yari other people try to give me other nicknames like yayis or yaha. It was so unique to her that she decided to name my sister Yaneth and me Yajaira. I also wanted to keep the tradition alive that I named My two daughters Yazmyne and Yanessa. I should of named my son Ygnacio, But I thought it would be to much. They also miss prononce my name too. But you just correct them and expect it. At least you know they are calling you if they pause before saying your name.(you Yajaira's know what I mean!! LOL) Also the correct way to say this name is Ya-Hi-Da. I met only one girl too with the name and she was also a twin. But I heard many with the name. Overall this name can be a curse or a great thing to have. You choose the way you want to percive it."
