Comment left Nov 22, 2008: "My name is VIDA (in English reed it Veeda)It is also an old Slavic name originating from the male pagan God VID who is the Slavic deity of war, fertility and abundance. Also derived is the verb VIDATI (veedeaty) meaning TO HEEL.
It is becoming more commone recently, but I have met only one Vida in my life so far, and I am 30. There is the longer version of the name Vidosava which is older and more common. I have always been in love with it.
In Hebrew it means the loved one, in spanish life and so on..." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 21, 2008: "My daughters name is Vaydah. I loved this name since I was a little girl and saw the movie "My Girl". I wanted her to have a name with meaning and Vaydah means knowledge. Her middle name is Noelle. Vaydah Noelle....knowledge of the birth of Christ. (Noelle means Christmas)" (Report as inappropriate)

I do hate the name with all my heart-PARENTS BEWARE WHAT YOU NAME YOUR CHILDREN-.My father's ego made him always incline to the extravagant and the "unique" therefore he chose the name Veda for me, luckly it is my middle name,I am from Argentina and I think the name Veda is defenitly not common here AND IT IS NOT consider a beautiful name." Comment left Nov 28, 2007: "My name's Veda, and in my nineteen years of being alive, I've never met another Veda. People have a tendency to mispronounce it or spell it 'Vada,' or, in the religions department of my college, ask me if my family has any tendencies towards Hinduism." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jun 13, 2007: "Yes, this is my name. It is pronounced exactly as it is written. I was actually named after my great grandmother, Veda. People say it wrong all the time. I have never met anyone else with this same name, except for my grandma of course. I like the name." (Report as inappropriate)

I was in the 5th grade when I first saw it. I told myself if I ever had a daughter I would name her Vayda. So when I had my daughter on Nov 17, 2004 that is exactly what I did!!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 01, 2005: "This is my daughters name. This is the exact sanskrit spelling. The name is pronounced with a long a sound. Unfortunately everyone says is with an e sound. But, i still think this is a perfect name for any little girl!" (Report as inappropriate)
