Comment left Nov 29, 2006: "I called my daughter Toni (born early 70s), after her father Anthony, didn't like the female versions of Anthony (such as Antonia), but liked Toni. I have always loved it and she has gone through life with a distinctive name.
Toni has been used as a female name (the "i" ending denotes that it is female rather than the "y" ending on the male name - Terri (female) Terry (male) is also used) in the UK, it is pronounced the same.
