  • Comment left Oct 22, 2009: "My name is spelt Tea but pronunced Tay-uh. I used to hate it but i love it now. It's beautiful. :)" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Sep 24, 2009: "I'm a Taya (28) - the name comes from Thea (pronounced Thaya) - which means "goddess" in Ancient Greek. Everytime I speak with a Greek person as soon as I introduce myself I get an ear full about what it means and asked if I'm Greek as well. Surprised no one else has had this!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 16, 2009: "We are thinking about naming our baby Taya, but cant find the best spelling. It sound so pretty, but but want to keep the spelling pretty also" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 13, 2009: "My name is Taya, and I absolutely love the name. I live in Canada and know of only a few with this name. It is constantly pronounced wrong, spelled wrong and one day perhaps it will be popular enough to say right. Anyone with this name could probably tell you they have been called Tanya, or had it pronounced like Maya. Everyone will always be in awe of this name when they hear it... if they hear it correctly ;) I wish to see this on key chains at the dollar store one day. I have heard of only a few possible meanings for this name. Japanese:"Valley Feild" and Cherokee:"Beautiful Flower" I have also heard that the name means "poor one", But I would like to disagree. It's much to beautiful to mean anything negative. If anyone knows more, I would love to know!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 12, 2009: "My daughters name is Taya Rose. We have had lots of positive feedback on the name but it is frequently mispronounced. I named her after a Dutch neighbor who's full name is Theadora - which she pronounced Tayadora and Taya for short. I figured people would mispronounce it if I spelled it Thea, so I opted for Taya. It is crazy how often it is mispronounced, as it is spelled phonetically. My girls is a teenager now and I still love the name. Common nicknames include Tay, Tay-Tay or Taya-Waya which are pretty tolerable." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 17, 2008: "My mum named me Taya after seeing it in a Polynesian history book that mentioned a Polynesian princess called Taya. I,too, didn't like it much when I was younger because it was so frequently mispronounced (and still is) but I really love it now. Very unique, very pretty. It has so many different origins (and different spellings). Taya is Polyesian, japanese, Italian and a number of others I can't think of right now. Same pronunciation but different spelling includes Tea, Taia, Tayah and a myriad of others (Spanish and so on)." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Oct 08, 2006: "This is my Daughters name Taya (full name Taya-Rose" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left May 14, 2006: "My daughter's name is Taya and she hated it for the first 18 years of her life because it was frequently mispronounced and misspelled. When she became a college freshman at a prestigious women's college she finally told me her name was okay because everybody else there also had wierd names. It has since become a positive aspect of her professional life as it is distinctive and beautiful. (Just like her!)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 11, 2006: "I named my daughter, born in 2002 Taya Lane, I heard it on a japanese cartoon, which makes sense because the name Taya is japanese. Hardly anyone can pronounce it right, but I love it and wouldn't change it for the world" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 30, 2006: "My daughter's name is Taya and I have had some people think that there should be an"H" at the end of her name. But most people think that it is a great name and some have said they have never heard it before." (Report as inappropriate)
