I just tell everyone my name is Tarnz coz I get annoyed with the drama of spelling it right and pronounciation blah blah blah. I also thought my name was plain and I've only ever met 1 other person with the same name in the country of NZ. When I was very young I didn't like my name because no one else had it and no one spelled or pronounced it correctly. Despite the statistics on these websites that suggest it is a popular name, I've met few Tanias in my lifetime. People commonly misspell it "Tonya" or "Tanya" and I've learned to answer to every pronunciation you can think of, the most common and least attractive of which seems to be the whiny sounding "TANN-YAH". It wasn't until I got a little older that I began to appreciate having a less common name that also reflects my heritage.
