User Comments about the name Tana

Comment left Jul 11, 2008: "We named our daughter Tana. Found it in a book and the meaning there was star goddess, I don't remember the language origin though." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 27, 2008: "my name is Tana. i have never met another person named Tana yet!! i like being unique. yes it gets annoying because a lot of people cannot pronounce it but i hate how many ashleys and katies there are i like being different!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 15, 2008: "I am from the u.k, called Tana after the river in Kenya, Africa and have never met anyone else called Tana. As I am British I prefer my name to be pronounced Tah-na but I answer to anything!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 13, 2008: "My name is Tana and I am from Romania ( Europe). Until I discovered this site, I thought that there are not too many girls with the name Tana. But now, when I see so many of you with the same name, I think that this name is cool, simple and I like it very much. I've been called, Tania, Tatiana, Ana but I am not angry about it (not much)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 02, 2008: "I love my name, Tana. My mother was a Susan Hayward fan and named me after one of her movie characters. When I tell people that they are really confused! I graduated with another Tana whose mother saw the same movie. My favorite story is from a teacher who kept my name permanently confused with a male classmate named Dana. She always said my name with a long a and his with a short a. We just let her go on. Oh, well." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 16, 2008: "Tana. You all get it! People say it wrong so you have to compare it to something else. I tend to use "Montana" although many people now like to call me "Tana Montana." My full name is Kristana, but I think it's easier to go by Tana." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 07, 2008: "My name is Tana and I LOVE it. I help people remember it when I say, "Like the shoe polish brand named "Tana"". Same sound as Anna with a T. My sister was always jealous of my name and use to call me Tana Banana. I just laughed." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 29, 2008: "I'm a Tana Banana... but I always get the TAH-NA version. Or Tanya, or Hannah. It's so nice to see so many people who can share my pain! My full name is Tana Armitstead, so my name gets butchered on a regular basis. I've only met one other Tana... but I here there's lots of elderly women named Tana in Montana. I like my name... I think it's unique." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 26, 2008: "I love my name.. It's unique and different and you always get compliments on it!! I'm there with the tuna girl.. except my last name sounds like sandwich and thats what I was called in the doctors office by some foreign lady who barely spoke english.. Tuna Sandwich.. Tuna Sandwich the doctor is ready to see you... ahhh haha" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Apr 18, 2008: "My name is Tana, as in Montana. I have been called everything BUT. Tanya,Tawna, Tawny, Taina, Taylor, Terri, I could go and on! I love my name but people are really stupid when it comes to it!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 27, 2008: "My name is, "Tana," like Montana. You wouldn't believe how many people don't know "montana" or how to spell it! Rediculous. One time I was called, "Tuna!" Right, like my father thought back to middle school and all the horrible things kids make fun of, and "Tuna," is what he thought of? Other than constantly correcting people, its great. Everyone love it, or at least that is what they tell me." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 13, 2008: "My name is "Tana". I'm 55 so I've carried this name proudly for many years. Very few people ever pronounce it correctly. So in order for them to get the correct wordage, I tell them it sounds like "Anna" only with one "N". I to have been told nunerious time what a unique and lovely name it is. Over the years I've never known a single person who carried my name. So, Hello and God Bless to all the other 'Tana's" out there." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Feb 08, 2008: "My name is very rarely pronounced correctly. It does not rhyme with Montana (though that's how most people say it). I find it irksome, but it's nice to be a little rare." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Jan 08, 2008: "I have always loved having a unique name. No confusion with other kids growing up in school! Being from Montana, and now living in Florida, I found a trick that help people get it right though. . .I'm now known as Tana from Montana :)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 04, 2007: "I love the name Tana it is an awesome name I think it means popular because some1 at my school is name is tana and she is the most popular kid in school" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 20, 2007: "I love my name too. We say it like "sauna" I always get compliments on it. It means shelf in Chinese and there is a glacier named Tana and men keep falling in and dying." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Oct 18, 2007: "I love my name. I was named after my mother so i am a girl who is a Jr. which is a whole other story in itself. But we pronounce it Tana like Banana. I've always recieved compliments on my name. I have no complaints about my name at all." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 08, 2007: "My name is also Tana and since 1957 I have loved it although people like to add other vowel sounds to it we pronounce it tan-a also with a short a(like apple). I have loved having a different name I didnt realize there were so many of us. In my life I have only met one other and she had named her daughter Tana also she was from New Orleans and I was from Richton Mississippi at the time. My mother found it in a magazine on her 1st bus ride away from home and saved it til she had me some years later. The one draw back to this name is that as a young girl they never had my name on any of those souviner pins and bicycle tags although I looked every single time ..........tana" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left May 23, 2007: "I pronounce it "tan-a". I also have problems with people pronouncing it. I can probably count the number of people who said it right. Here are a couple of meanings of my name: Everlasting life, fairy queen, and river in the mountains. I was named after the river in Alaska, but it's also a river in Kenya. It's also the lake that the Blue Nile runs out of!!!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 19, 2006: "TAHNA is NOT the correct way to say it. It is supposed to be pronounced like anna with a T. I always tell people, "You know, like Montana?" Then they get it. Otherwise I'm not sure what they are going to call me. Then there's the whole last name craziness. I have a last name that starts Sch....apparently no one knows Sch is just shhhhh. Oh well. I know a little girl named Montana, but is called Tana. I like the full name, although I can understand a woman not wanting her daughter named specifically after a pro-footballer." (Report as inappropriate)
