But unlike everyone my nickname is Tam and not Tammy, But I have only met one other person with the same name. I also received my name from bewitched, a cross between Tabitha and Samantha." My besties call me Tammy, and sometimes the teacher messes up by saying " Tamantha!" I get mad when ever anyone messes up my name. Its a beautiful name, and no one should mess it up. I tell them " Tam-a-tha" but someone calls me " Tamitah". GRRR" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left May 08, 2009: "My really name is Tamatha but I go by Tammy. My dad thought is was a cross between Tabitha and Samantha. I said they got it out of an Alaksan telephone book. People call me Tamantha as well and I have to say it's pronounced the way it is spelled. Now you know why I go by Tammy. I have never meet anyone what has the same name as me. I know it's a different a name but I never knew that people would name their children Tamatha.I'm always correcting people on how to say my name. I hate when they use an "N" in my name it's like they not ever looking at it to pronounce it right. I had a friend his sister's name was Tamatha but I never meet her. I wonder where our name came from it's not listed in any baby book's that I have come a cross. But I do it get people that do like my name they say it's different. Thanks mom and dad." Comment left May 08, 2009: "Adding to the list, I too am one of those given the name "Tamatha". Oddly enough, I became a "Math"amatician. My parents must have known something! As with many of those that have written comments here, I grew up being called Tammy. Now, I find that in my professional life it is much easier to get recongized and remembered using Tamatha. The pronunciation that our family uses is Tam-a-tha." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Mar 24, 2009: "MY name is also Tamatha I was born in 1983. My mother likes the Bewitched series and, wanted to name me Tabitha, but my father didn't like that I would be called, Tabby, so they decided to change the b for an m. I thought I was the only Tamatha out there in the world too. I am of puerto rican decent, now living in Puerto Rico, so imagine how people here pronounce it! Even my own family members. So everyone calls me Tammy ever since school." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Mar 02, 2009: "My full name is Tamatha Florene (middle name after grandmother Flora Irene) anyway.. I was born in 1971 and my mother believed I was the only one until a little girl named Tamatha moved down the street from me. The funny thing is that after I grew up and got married, we discovered this girl happens to be the daughter of a dear friend of my husband. I've been called everything but my name, as well. I go by Tammy as it is easier." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 22, 2009: "WOW!!! My name is Tamatha Lorraine try learning to spell that growing up and that's not including my last name. I was also called Tammy growing up...except my best friend of 20+ years she calls me birth name (her name is Babette). I was born 1967, both parents say they named me so I don't know, but I love it. I am a proud choctaw indian born in Oklahoma, not sure if this has any factor. Yes, I too called everything but Tamatha! Love us or hate us we will be the only TAMATHA they will ever meet. So glad to find out after 41 years there are me out there! GO TAMATHA'S !!!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 21, 2009: "Hi there! My name is Tamatha Irene and I was born in 1971. I have all my life been called Tammy. When I was 11 I changed the spelling to Tami. Since using my real name and not my nickname (Tami) at my job I have also been given the nickname of Tama which I really really like alot. People not pronouncing my name correctly is a pet peeve. I get Tabitha ALL the time, I also get Tamantha from people who can't read my name. My father claims to have made up my name because he could decide between Tamara and Tabitha." Comment left Jan 06, 2009: "hi my full name is tamatha ann and yes i too get called tabitha, tamantha, tamartha. when i shortened it to tammy they call me pammy or hemi! i was also named after the debbie reynolds song "tammy tammy's in love" my mother loved that song so much.
the meaning of the name varies as it could be a variation of thomasa which in greek means twin but tammy in hebrew means perfect one.
i had a tamatha grey that went to the same school as i did and we were forever getting mixed up so i was called tammy from an early age." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Dec 10, 2008: "I'm Tamatha Burnadette, now that a mouth full! I go by Tami now. I was born in 1970 and it was very unsual growing up. My mother has always called me Tamatha, she actually hates for people to call me Tami. I like Tamatha, and I like it when people use it and pronounce it right!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 28, 2008: "I, too, am a Tamatha, although I also go by Tami. I thought I was alone with this name too. I once met a girl named Tamitha; she went by Tammy. I have been called Tamantha, Samantha, Tabitha, and once by a psychology teacher, TamaRtha!!! I love my name now, but as a child, I really hated it. I got teased a bit about it, but only because of mispronounciation. When I was born, my mother named me Timothy Michael. My father was away and didn't return until I was 3 days old. He was furious at my mother. He gave me the name TAMATHA MICHELE. It is suppose to mean "wildflower" in Native American. My mother is Cherokee, but I don't think it is Cherokee. My father still calls me Tim or Timmy, though! lol!!!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Sep 17, 2008: "I thought I was the only Tam-a-tha in the world until one day I wanted to put it on my car tag but someone had already taken it in the state of MS. My grandmother named me Tamatha and it was very hard for my sister to pronounce so she nicknamed me Tammy and I have been stuck with tammy all my life. At times when I tell people my name is Tamatha they find it very odd but beautiful. To this day people still cannot pronounce it correctly..I think it is funny..So for all of us named Tamatha which is not many *we are special*. I have never met any one with my name but I would like to some day." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Aug 31, 2008: "My name is also Tamatha, but Tammy is much easier for people to say, and that is what I go by. I was born in 1983. My dad liked the song, "Tammy, Tammy, Tammy's in love. I have yet to hear this song. But I am told he wanted my nickname to be Tammy, and Tamatha is what he came up with. I always wondered why I had to be the odd ball in the family. My brother's names are Robert and Steven....I just had to be the tongue twister. I have been called all the same names as all of you, also TamaRtha...how, who knows. In school I was the name that the teacher would pause, make a face, and I would say just call me Tammy, lol. It didn't help that my maiden name was Byrd, pronounced Bird. Now my last name is Goeser, in German(which is where it originated) it is pronounced Geezer, lol. I bet you can imagine the twisting on the two combined. It's nice to see that I am not the only one, :O)." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 09, 2008: "Hello Tamatha's : ) I love my name! Yes everyone pronounces it wrong! I was called Tami during school but changed to my full name when I graduated. I have a T-shirt that says there is no N in my name. There is another Tamatha in my town! She goes by Tami. My nickname was Tamushka. I won't be called Tami because it easier for everyone else! Born in 1966" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left May 02, 2008: "wow! So many Tamatha's out there. I always thought why am i the only person with this name. But now i see im not. I also have had my name butchered. Like so many of the others. TamaNtha, Tabitha, Samantha. In high school my geometry & algebra 2 teacher cut it down & called me Math! I do not know how my name came up or where my mom got it from, but i love it." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Mar 19, 2008: "My name is also Tamatha, but Tammy is much easier for people to say. I have met another Tamatha before she was a little older than me. I was born in 1970. My mom liked the song, "Tammy, Tammy, Tammy's in love. Very popular in 1970. But I am told she did not want to just call me Tammy. So she came up with Tamatha. Nice to meet all of you..." Comment left Feb 26, 2008: "everyone mispronounces it. It's not a hard name to say, so I don't know what the problem is. I have met only one other Tamatha, but I think it is a beautiful name." (Report as inappropriate)
