I have a T-shirt that says there is no N in my name. There is another Tamatha in my town! She goes by Tami. My nickname was Tamushka. I won't be called Tami because it easier for everyone else! Comment left Jul 03, 2007: "I was born in 1968 and at that time "Bewitched" was very popular. My parents weren't sure what to name me and my sister, who was only 5 1/2 at that time, suggested Tabitha or Samantha because that was her favorite show. Mom and dad didn't want to call me Tabby or Sam so my sister blurrted out, "How 'bout Tamatha!" combinding both names. For years everyone called me Tammy but in highschool I went to the name on my birth certificate because it was different and it distinguished me from all the other Tammys. I've endured mispronunciations too like everyone else here but I figured it was part of the territory. I've always wondered the meaning and the only thing I could dig up was "Beloved Tammy," which I think means "Beloved Perfection." Hmmm... I think I'll keep searching." (Report as inappropriate)

To me I think it is a beautiful name. A lot of people miss-pronounce this name I pronounce it as Tam-a-tha. I too thought it was made up... I guess I was wrong. I did not know my name was tamatha because my family hated it so they called me tammy with lots of different spelling I was 15 when I saw my birth certifcate.. I love the name it is unique and I'm very unique.. I really want to meet people whom have this name and I really want to know if it has any meanings I can never find keychains or anything that has that name on it . I had a nurse in aberdeen Wa. say she had just checked in a tamatha so she was so astonished to here I tooo was tamatha I get lots of comments about it but like I said I stilll have not met one so contact me I 'd like to meet you...." I can't quite believe I've read all those comments from other Tamathas: like most of them I too thought I was the only one & that my mother invented the name (in 1972). I'm 6 months pregnant & was doing a search to find the meaning of a name which came to me in the middle of the night for my child (I instinctively knew he was a boy from really early on). I ALWAYS had my name mispronounced and it drove me crazy and was usually embarassed when it happened (mostly in school..first day, ya know). I always got TamaNtha. I do go by Tammy since so many people have trouble saying and spelling it. My paternal grandma even called me Timothy!! GRRR!!! My mom told me she named me after Tabitha on Bewitched (I loved that show!) I don't think she heard the girl's name quite right though..lol. I was born in 1968.
