Comment left Apr 19, 2007: "Sudie was the first name of both my sister and my grandmother. People INVARIABLY pronounce and/or spell it incorrectly. The correct pronunciation is SOO-dee, but it gets mispronounced as "SUDD-ee" (as in "sudden"), Sudsy, Say-dee... it's even misspelled on several genealogy sites as "Sadie" (I have my sister's birth cert -- it's SUDIE, not SADIE, but someone transcribing it decided her name was Sadie)."
