User Comments about the name Robin

Comment left Jun 16, 2010: "I'm a Robin too and like many of you, have been teased to death as a child. When that song "Fly Robin Fly" came out in the 70's, I really got nailed. Others being, "Hey Robin, where's Batman?", Rockin Robin and of course Robin Redbreast would just embarass me to death. Now, I love my name and am glad hardly anybody else has it. I've only known two other Robin's in my whole life and I"m 42. I think my middle name Lyn gives me more grief now because people think I left the other "N" off. If I had a daughter I think I'd give her my name too, that's how much I love it." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Jun 12, 2010: "Robin is the best name in the whole world!! How many of them do you know? well i know a few actually but like everyone else says its pretty basic but not too common. Its not a brittany or jessica or heather its ROBIN!!and I love it ♥" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Aug 05, 2009: "I was teased a lot as a child also. Batman and Robin, Robin Red Breast, Robin Hood. But as an adult of course all that is over. I do like that it is a fairly uncommon name, but wish my parents had spelled it with a y. It would have made it more obvious I was a girl I think. Robin is often mistaken for a male name." • Comment left Mar 25, 2009: "My name is Robin and I was teased very much as a child, it was pretty awful. Even teachers used to make fun of my name. Now its ok, it doesn't bother me as much. I much prefer my middle name, but Im not laying that out on a public website. :)" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Mar 12, 2009: "I love my name Robin Renee, but even though the name was poplular in the early 60's when I was born I never had another Robin in my class or in my schools. Now my grand daughter is named Robin:)" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Mar 11, 2009: "My middle name is Robin, this i becouse the day after i was borne there were iver a houndred robin on my front deck." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 12, 2009: "My name is also Robin and it is always fun to meet another Robin, to bad I haven't meet one yet!Well I love my name. On occasion I get called Rockin Robin or they sing the song to me, but I would never ever change my name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 30, 2008: "I love that my name is simple and straight forward, but a bit unique at the same time. My fiance's name is Chris so I'm getting used to the Christopher Robin jokes now, but think that's just a funny coincidence." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Oct 03, 2007: "yep...I have been called everything from Rocket Robinhood, to Chistopher Robin..and the song "Jingle bells, batman smells, ROBIN laid an egg.." is always sung to me. I didn't like my name either..haha...funny how we all hated the name in the beginning. But over the years I have come to realize that it's not a very popular name, and I like being different. I hardly know any Robin's, and none live around here. I like it because it's failry short, and I think it has some sort of powerfulness to it, but I can't explain. I've finally decided it's such a pretty name, and I am so glad it's mine :) haha." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 08, 2007: "I hated it as a child and desperately wanted to change it to a definitively girl's name such as Jane or Judy. My mother finally capitulated when I was about 14 saying, "go ahead and change it but I always thought I named you right because you've always been as free as a bird." That was just the thing I needed to hear. I have loved the name ever since, and I am now 51." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 25, 2007: "I really love my name now. As a young child there was a little teasing but it wasn't too awful. Mostly it was Batman and Robin but that was in the 1960s when the TV show was at the height of its popularity. The name Robin is strong, feminine and unique but not difficult to spell or pronounce." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 14, 2007: "My name is Robin and I hated it as a child...robin redbreast...batman and robin...but now as an adult, I really like it. It's not super common and I think it's a pretty name." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Oct 18, 2006: "My name is Robin. I do not often meet others with the name Robin. I have been asked to see my feathers once or twice. It is usually not mispronounced. Often it is mispelled with "Robyn"." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 09, 2006: "I find people in the US can not spell it right. They really want there to be two 'b's or a 'y'." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Nov 26, 2005: "i have only met 2 other girls named robin in my life. I like my name, no weird nick names, no confusion. it's better than being a common name like my sis emily. P.S. I never get any batman jokes!" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Jul 25, 2005: "i never met a girl with that name and im from holland, i agree with the stupid batman jokes hahaa, but i like my name, my second name is mercedes so im used to people making funny faces when they hear my names:P" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 06, 2005: "My name is Robin. Sometimes people address things to Mr. Robin.... even though I'm female. It's very unique these days, I am always the only "Robin" at work, amongst friends, etc. I like that it's from nature (bird), traditional, and classic. I could do without the Batman and Robin and Robin Hood jokes, but other than that, It's a great name" (Report as inappropriate)
