My husband is of Irish descent and our other daughter (6) is Karrigan Rose. So the name needed to be Irish and end in gan. We fell in love with the name Raegan and it fits her perfect. We often call her RaeRae, Rae or Rae-El(combination of first and middle name). Her name is very rarely mispronounced and we often get complimented on how beautifully unique her name is. There have only been a couple instances of being compared to Ronald Reagan but that isn't a bad thing. We couldn't imagine her name being anything other than what it is." (Report as inappropriate)

My parents took the spelling from Shakespeare (King Lear) and the pronunciation from the president, since I was born late in 1979, about the same time he was declaring his candidacy. I grew up thinking it was a strange name and hearing people mispronounce it. Now that I'm a professional news reporter, I refuse to change my last name and adopt my husband's because my maiden name's so great. It makes for a fantastic byline!" (Report as inappropriate)

I was called many names over the years and hear the name "Ronnie" quite a lot. I do have it pronounced wrong quite a bit too. It is pronounced Ray-gan. My nick names are Rae, Rae-Ann, and Rae-Rae. I have had no problems with mispronunciation as it is spelled the way it sounds, so most people get it right. I've only had one person shorten it to "rae rae" which i hate!
