I have had many nicknames over the years including Pam (which is what I go by), Pami which my extended family still uses although I am 25, and Spam since middle school. My husband calls me Pammers which unknown to him was also the nickname my mom gave the woman I am named after. The only nickname that I always hated being called is Pamela Anderson and would joke that my brain was big not my chest. I have always loved the name and thought it sounded poetic and elegant." I'm 20 years old and agree with a lot of these comments, I don't really think it's that common (and when I seen "Sex and the city" I was shocked to see the name Pamela, on "Carrie's" address book). I heard many nicknames for my name as a kid and most of the time heard "your name rhymes with everything!" And it does; spam, ham, etc. And I used to have to listen to when my name was called because, Pam and Sam and Anne and Dan, can sound a like (when called out loud). I've heard of the Pamela Anderson jokes as a kid but I do like my name. It's different and easy for kids so say (which is just a, PAM!). But I've realized that many movies do use the name Pam so maybe it's more common than I think, ex. "Meet the parents" and the Bourne Series." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 14, 2008: "I will be 30 this year and I love my name. I love the versitility of it. I most often go by Pam, but close friends and family often call me Pamela, Pammy, or Pammy Sue. I've also been called Spam and Pambo but it doesn't bother me. I did not like my name when I was younger because it was so different and sounded like an "old" name. About 5 years ago I met another Pam my age and her and I have become very close friends. A pair of Pammys...lol.
