User Comments about the name Olive

Comment left Oct 29, 2009: "I love the name! My husband and I already decided on Paisley for our first baby girl, but I saw Olive and I think we're going to have a "Paisley Olive" :)" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Aug 23, 2009: "Our Daughter was born in December 2008 and we named her Olive. Her full name is Olivia Carmela, but Olive is all she will go by, unless she decides when she is older that she prefers Olivia. We LOVE 'Olive' for her, and, of course, found Olivia to be too popular, but it went so well with the middle name, which was an absolute. I agree, most people our age love it, but anyone age 70+ seems to hate it. Recently, I took my little Olive to visit my grandmother (Olive's great grandmother), who is pushing 90, at her retirement home, and when I introduced Olive to all Grandma's peers, she quickly chimed in, "Well her name is OLIVIA, but they just call her Olive." I had to laugh at that and not take it too personally. We know it is a unique name, which is part of the attraction, and that we can't please everyone. I also find it to be peaceful, delicate, yet strong, original, yet timeless, and just as cute as a button - just like our Olive." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 11, 2009: "We have a gorgeous 4 year old named Olive and we are just starting to meet other little girls with the name. We LOVE her name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 05, 2009: "My name is Olive, and i think it's beautiful. I've also never met an Olive which is fantastic. I live in Nigeria, so people always find it a little strange when they find out, but in the end, they admit that it suits me perfectly." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 04, 2009: "I'm 28 weeks pregnant and we're pretty sure she's an Olive! It's no much sweeter than the overly used Olivia. We love it! My Dad laughed and said she'd be Olive Oyl (Popeye) but what child of our children's generation even knows who she is??" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 02, 2009: "We have a beautiful Olive born in 2003... it seems it is getting a little more popular now(perhaps due to a well celebrity naming her daughter Olive??????). She is the only Olive in the whole of her school (she is pretty impressed with that :-))..." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 29, 2009: "I love this name. My husband and I are expecting in November 09 and have always known we would have a little Olive! I am glad it isn't very popular. A lot of older women I talk to hate it...they think of Olive Oil from Popeye. I figure the kid's in Olive's generation won't even know who Popeye or Olive Oil are, so we are safe." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Jul 29, 2009: "My daugther was born April 1st 09 and we named her Olive, most people hate it at first but it seems to grow on them. People think of old people when you say Olive. I thinks its very unique and gracful. It suits our little lady anyway." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 21, 2009: "My daughter's name is Olive. She was born in Feb. 09. So far, I have mostly gotten compliments. I love the name - it's unique, elegant and fits well for all ages." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 19, 2009: "I am due in Dec. 09 and we plan on naming our baby girl Olive Tuesday. Love the name, I have loved ti for a long time! I hope it doesnt get too popular though!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 05, 2009: "Love it! Husband and I couldn't agree on a girl name and all of the family names are too popular right now, Emma, Grace, Elizabeth, etc. We attended my husbands grandmothers funeral recently and I saw that her middle name was Olive....before I could say anything my husband pointed to it at the service and we both smiled...we knew then that she would be Olive Virginia after our grandmothers." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 17, 2009: "I LOVE Olive. I named my daughter born early in July 08, Olive. It was actually the only name that my husband and I could agree on. We thought of other names and poured over lists of baby names. But We'd think of a back up name and the next day, we'd forget it. She was meant to be Olive. People definitely either love it or hate it. I had people ask "BUT WHAT would you call her?" Umm... Olive. Her middle name is Papillon so she can go by Poppy if she doesn't like her name later... but she's definitely a little Olive. AND we're teaching her that her belly button is her Pimento!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 18, 2009: "we named our daughter olive elizabeth - born on 5/6/09." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 08, 2009: "I named my daughter Olive Kay in October of 08. People either love it or hate but its perfect for her." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 02, 2009: "I agree with the poster below- if I had thought of it before my daughter Olive was born, I would have given her a middle name that starts with U too! Olive U=I love you!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 12, 2009: "Olive is the best nam in the world! Infact my name is Olive and I am in 3rd grade and I am 8 years old." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 11, 2009: "My name is Olive Yvonne Devereux. I was born in France. :D I'm the only Olive I know. I'm glad it's unique. n.n I wouldn't want someone else with my name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 17, 2009: "We just named our newborn baby girl Olive. born feb 16th 2009. as someone else on here said, we knew from the start her name was Olive. this is once we knew my wife was pregnant and for some reason we thought/knew we were having a girl. however, what we didnt know was that we were having a boy too! we named the twins Olive and Odin. so far everyone seems disturbed by our choices in names." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 12, 2009: "I knew Olives who were called Olive Oil, or asked "Where's Popeye?" Or "Are you a black Olive or a white Olive or a brown Olive?" Food names are loaded with problems. Why not the more beautiful, in my opinion, Olivia?" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 30, 2009: "My name is Olive. I am the third Olive in my family. Good Luck to All the new Olives." (Report as inappropriate)
