Comment left Oct 16, 2009: "My name's Naomi! I have to admit, I didn't like my name as a child. Bascially because nobody seemed to be able to pronounce it correctly. I live in Australia so I had a lot of people calling me 'NIGH-oh-mee' which I HATED. I also got a lot of 'haha, you're name backwards is 'I moan' (yeah, very mature... *eye roll*). But as I've got older, I think I've grown into my name and it suits me. It's also quite exotic sounding and quite uncommon even though it isn't an extremely mega rare name. It also has an interesing array of nicknames, I've found. I get called 'Na' (pronounced 'Nay') by my Mum and bestfriend, 'Nome' by my dad and 'Nairm' by my brother." (Report as inappropriate)

I was born in Japan, and of course, its Japanese translation is great. :) it does get a little annoying when people get my name wrong, but I let them. Seeing as how it does no good to try and correct them, most just keep getting it wrong! Comment left May 06, 2009: "Love the name of course!! I have two daughters and my youngest is named Naomi. Neither one of us like it when people say NYomi, it is pronounced with the A sound. Even when I stress the A when in introduction some people still immediately say Nyomi. So my daughter at age 5, she is now 6, started introducing herself as Naynay and would tell the people "Just call me Naynay so you don't get my name wrong". How smart she is!!!" I do get frustrated when people call her NIEomi though, we put such thought into naming her and to have people mispronouncing her name all the time drives me a little nutty.
