I love the name Nancy...I only know one other girl named Nancy, unless you count all the old ladies.;) All of my friends (and some of my teachers)call me "Nance" which I think is a really fun nickname and expresses my personality well. Nancy is short, easy to pronounce, and easy to spell. I love how it means "grace," because I am so clumsy its ridiculous and also because I think grace as an abstract concept is beautiful." They must cancel each other out! Lol. One perk is that since there aren't many Nancys around, when you hear your name, you know they're talking to you! I didn't like my name growing up because it wasn't cool. I was born in 1972 and the only other Nancys I knew were all grownups. But we all change with age. Comment left Mar 06, 2009: "I am expecting a baby girl, due date 4th July 2009. I plan to call her Nancy, after my grandmother who was aslo born on July 4th, she is 83 years old! She was actually christened Annie Elizabeth and she hated that name, so reverted to Nancy the other form of Anne.

I have been told many times over that I have an outdated name, once there was even a bet that I was going to be over 50yrs old by people my age before they met me simply because my name is NANCY!!

My surname is Jubb and with that in mind, my partner and I thought a Dickensian first name would suit such a Dickensian surname. Nancy, as most are no doubt aware, was the name of a character in Oliver Twist. A teenage Westend prostitute. Despite that, we decided that we would reclaim the name from the negative connotations it suffers. After all, Nancy was a benevolent soul, who suffered in order to protect others." Then about 25 years ago I started meeting them. There was a Golden Book "Nurse Nancy" it came with a band-aide.
One day at work at the change of shift
we had 4 Nurse Nancys in one room. We spanned 3 generations in age.
I have a daughter-in-law Nancy. There are other Nancys in her family. I have a GGreat Aunt Nancy b.1857. I seem to meet Nancys every where I go. I have liked them all.
