My mother said she chose the name because it was unique...not quite. For the first 26 years of my life I went by the nickname "Shelley". Then one day I thought, I"m to old for this and went back to using Michelle. I think it sounds more sophisticated. My husband, who has only known me as Michelle, thinks it's a sexy name. There are lots of Michelles around now too- my roommate and I were both named Michelle; I lived with her for two years.
