I too was born in 1971 (post Beatles song whom I adore)and grew up with many Michelle's in school and every related "elle" imaginable (i.e. Rochelle, Nichelle, Roselle, Richelle). Formerly I go by Michelle but my family and close firend call me 'Chelle' or Michaelyn (first and middle which was also common. I love name and find it fits me. I find it feminine and sexy and yet strong when you consider its spiritual relation to Michael (the Archangel). And am proud to share with the First Lady, Michelle Obama. My mother said she chose the name because it was unique...not quite. For the first 26 years of my life I went by the nickname "Shelley". Then one day I thought, I"m to old for this and went back to using Michelle. I think it sounds more sophisticated. My husband, who has only known me as Michelle, thinks it's a sexy name. I think her name helped instill that. Looking at Michelle Piffier and Michelle Williams in addition to that, I see the same qualities.
