They told me it should be pronounced 'mee-ka', not 'my-ka', in the same way they (or latin-based languages) would say 'mee-kal' versus 'my-cool' for Michael...or Michelle, which is not pronounced 'my-shell'. I asked them about the translation to English and they told me a boy would always be Micah but for a girl it would probably be Mikah. Regardless, it's a great name." (Report as inappropriate)

There is that male singer called Mika who in recent times sang the song 'Grace Kelly', but a generation before there was a female character called Mika Koizumi in a Power Rangers-like show in Japan, Chodenshi Bioman in the mid-Eighties, a character who was both a photographer and the original Yellow Four until being shot dead with anti-bio particles in that show's 10th episode. And I get really mad when I look at baby names websites and it says "Boy" instead of "Both". My opinion is that Micah fits a girl better. So if there was a "edit" thing on those websites, I would change it to girl, or at least "both". My dad named me that after this woman he met at a pizza place and she worked there with my dad and his friends (they were about 15 or 16 then and she was maybe in her 20's or 30's) and she didn't call them "dumb little boys" like some other girls did. He decided that if he ever had a GIRL he would name her Micah. They even had my brother before me and didn't even THINK about naming him Micah. People always misspell my name as "Micha" and I'm like "OMG, my name isn't MITCH-ah it is MYE-cah." Once someone spelled it like "Micaiah" but it is usually like "Micha"." (Report as inappropriate)

People always comment on her name, younger people like it, older people not so much. She's 5 now and loves her name and it's a lovely name to listen to when other people call her.
