Comment left Nov 05, 2009: "I dated a Maxine. She was 4'11", 90 pounds and everybody (including her) called "Mini Max"! She certainly proved it with her energy level!!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 12, 2009: "I am Maxine... I wondered why I was named this when the popular names were Nancy, Linda, Karen, Mary, Cathy, etc. all sound very blah to me now. I think in some ways this name made me strong, independent, artistic and outgoing. Friends and family call me Max, kids call me Maxie (which I love). I am always surprised when people can spell my name." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 04, 2009: "I'm Maxine Sydney, which doesn't shorten to anything girly at all, just Max and Syd. I managed to meet and be in class for years with a Max, a Maxwell, a Maxime, and a Maximillian. Oh, and just to make things better, there was also a (male) Sidney. :P" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Sep 07, 2009: "My name is Maxine.

Comment left Feb 14, 2009: "My Name is Maxine. Its the best because its not typical like sarah or blah everyone else. It is distinct. Friends do call me max from time to time. I heard the maxi-pad jokes before but it was usually from someone with a blah name. But i love it. It is original, i met some maxines in my life and they have all been really nice and cool gals." By the way, my name is Maxine Alice. I have a good friend with that name and I've met quite a few Maxine's in my life time. Ilike the name betternow that I've met more and I tell myself my mother must have like the name Maxine so I'm OK with it. One quick story about my name. Several years ago we went camping in Maine and I met a lady at the pool and we introduced ourselves. I said my name is Maxine. She said Oh, my mother's middle name is Maxine, that was interesting. I said my middle name is Alice, she said really??, that's my mother's first name." (Report as inappropriate)

I have to admit, I hated it as a teen because I wasn't one of the 3 0r 4 Stephanies, Jessicas or Nicoles.. I heard every 'Maxi-pad' joke you can imagine because of my name. With time I grew into it. Its a very strong name to have. It makes for a strong and independent woman. And, whenever anyone says my name you know who they are talking about.. I think I dig that the most. I carry my name with pride." (Report as inappropriate)
