And anyway, Mackenzie doesn't JUST mean "Son of Coinnach". Other meanings of it are "fire-born" or "son of the wise leader". And since Coinnach (yes, I'm probably spelling that wrong) is derived from the Scot/Irish word for "handsome", the name's meaning can also be taken as "fair child". There are multiple meanings, as there are for many words in this great big world of ours!! The Irish/Gaelic meaning is "fire-born." For us, since we are expecting a baby girl in August and my husband is a firefighter/paramedic . . .we think it's great. A lot of the time I get McKenzie, Mkenzie, Mcenzie, Mkensi, and Makenzi. When people spell it wrong it gets annoying, but teachers and classmates spell it right which is helpful. I have always liked the name and am glad that not many people have the same name. I like the way that I spell it and I get a range of nicknames; kenzie, mack, kenziedoodle, curly, macurly, sherly and all other fun ones.
