Comment left Sep 13, 2009: "I absolutely love my name. Growing up, I always went by "Lou Ann" and I loved my unique name; very few people with that name and that particular spelling. Over the years, I went from "Lou Ann" to "Lou". I get a kick from cold-calling sales reps who think they will be talking to a man only to find out that "Lou" is actually female. And yes, I always have to spell "Lou" when talking on the phone. People still ask if "Lou" is short for something else...Mary Lou, Louise, or Louella. Lots of nicknames also came about; like "Louisiana" or "Lousey Annie". As the oldest granddaughter, my one grandmother never could spell my name correctly. I know of a half-dozen others with the same pronunciation but different spellings of my name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 19, 2009: "My birth name is Lou Ann and I was born in 1944. My Mother combined my two Grandmother's names: Louisa and Anna. Over the years everyone has had the spelling wrong, so I have been using one word, "Louann" for many years so people don't call me Lou and think my middle name is Ann." (Report as inappropriate)
