User Comments about the name Linnie
Comment left May 11, 2008: "I love my name which came from my beloved grandmother and I believe a great great aunt. I am constantly asked how to spell it and if it is a nickname. I laugh at the mistakes of Lonnie, Linda, Winnie, Lindy, even Timmie once! I've been told that the name suits me and I certainly take it as a compliment." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Aug 05, 2005: "I am named Linnie for my mother. Yes, people often can't pronounce or spell it. I am always asked if it is a nick name. I love it because no one else I know of has it. I can call a friend from way back and say, this is Linnie and they know exactly who they are talking to. I am called "Little Linnie" by my family." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jun 30, 2005: "LIN-nee. People often misspell it, and invariably, every person I meet for the first time ask if it's short for another name, to which I answer, "No, that's what is written on my birth certificate." I was told when I was younger that it was a gaelic, celtic name, although I didn't know its meaning. Most of my relatives are Scottish, my grandmother having been born in the Highlands, and several great grandparents on the other side also from there. While I have met 1-2 others who have used Linnie as their name, it is a diminuitive of Lynn or Linette. I have noticed that because our name is so rare, we are all very territorial about it, unlike people whose names might be Susan or Diane, where they are used to hearing other people called by the same name."
