Linnea (Linnea Borealis) is a flower named after the famous Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778); it is the flower of the province of Smaland in Sweden where Linnaeus was from. My father's parents came from Stockholm in Smaland in the early 1900's to Bridgeport, CT. When my parents were on their honeymoon in NYC in 1942 they passed by a window displaying Linnea Perfume, a Breadth of Old Sweden made by a company out of Chicago and my mother thought it was such a pretty name that she tucked it away in her memory until 1948 when I was born. Unfortunately, the company is no longer in existence. Linnea is a very common name in Sweden. I have only met one other Linnea in my 61 years, but there are a few of us out there!"
