i love it, its so beautiful" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 29, 2008: "We named our daugther Layla ,after the song, but also because Layla in Hebrew means "to be intoxicated by wine" and i craved chardonnay during my pregnancy and could not have it! Why couldn't i have craved chocolate?! No one seems to mention that Lord Byron wrote about a Layla in his poems, but spelt it Leiyla, i think. Layla is two now and the name becomes more popular, i hope she still loves it as much as her father and i do in years to come, all our friends and family love it. Our next daughter will be called Lucia, as we wanted some thing similar." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jun 26, 2008: "I named my week old daughter Layla Faith. I have always loved the Eric Clapton song, but I loved it even more when I found out it meant "Dark beauty" in Arabic. It also means "Born at night" in Swahili(and my daughter was actually born at night). I love that it is not an extremely common name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 11, 2008: "it's my name and i love it! i'm 28 now and it was a little tough when i was in middle school and the unplugged version of the eric clapton song, "layla" became popular. everyone would sing "laaaaay la" when i got on the bus. at the time it was embarassing but looking back i guess i should have been flattered. i've gotten many compliments on my name and lot's of annoying people who ask if my parent's were clapton fans. some people also cofuse my name with the song "lola"" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Apr 08, 2008: "The name also means Night in Hebrew, in Hebrew it is pronounced slighly different than in Arabic. Sounds beautiful in both languages." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Mar 29, 2008: "I prefer this name pronounced "Lay-la" as opposed to "Ly-la". I wonder which way most girls and women pronounce their names." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 26, 2007: "I named daughter Layla. I've always liked the name, and my husband and I agreed on it. It has a special ring to me. It's a well known name, however, it is not that common. We love the name, and it suits our little girl so well. We picked the most obvious spelling, so we're hoping it won't be pronounced or spelled wrong." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 23, 2007: "My name is Layla and I am 22 years old from the UK.
I was named after the Derek and the Dominos song. It's so great to be named after a rock song than some cheesy pop song rubbish! Some of my friends used to sing/hum the song to me whenever I entered the room and that felt really good as I am a shy person.
There was a girl in my year at school called Laila but that's the only other person I know with this name. I have since heard of other people with the name on internet communities but I do not know them.
I'm proud of my name - it's unique, beautiful and easy to pronounce. And the meaning behind it gives it a mysterious sound." (Report as inappropriate)
