Comment left Jan 14, 2012: "We're expecting a baby girl due May 27th 2012.
We were going to name her Alena Julaine, but after hearing so many versions of Alena (ex. Alayna, Elaina, Elena..) I wanted something different.
My boyfriend actually picked this name. I fell in love with it right away!! :) Kyah, we pronounce like SKY but without the "Y" and and -AH at the end. Rhymes with Mya. I added the silent "H" at the end because I felt 3 letters was too short of a name.
We're going to call her "Ky" for short :)
Kyah Julaine <3" (Report as inappropriate)

I DO NOT HAVE A PARTICULAR STORY BEHIND THE NAME JUST THAT SHE HAS A FUNNY LAST MAE AND I WANTED SOMETHING THAT WOULD FLOW AND STILL BE BEAUTIFUL." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 19, 2011: "After quite a sad period in my life i got a Tibettan Terrier dog and searched for a unique name for her and found Kya.
African meaning "diamond in the sky"
Asian meaning "new begining"
Perfect I love both meanings. Kya is my world and I love her name to bits - Kathy" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 10, 2011: "My name is Ra'Kya(Rah -Kai- yah) I'm 18 years old.
My mother named me Ra'Kya because she thought it was a beautiful name. I've since changed my name to just Kya, for many reasons. One being I found the meaning of Kya means Diamond in the Sky. Another being Ra'Kya seems to be too hard for my teachers to pronounce." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 10, 2010: "I'm called Kya, pronounced as Key-ah. It's actually an abbreviation of my full name Saskia, which is hard to pronounce for English speaking folk. Wonder if the other lady posting here called Saskia knows she posted it exactly 376 years to the day on which the first famous Saskia, Rembrandt's wife, died ;o)" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Aug 08, 2010: "I named my daughter Kya Alana (pronounced Ky-a Alar-na).she was actually 6 weeks old by the time i decided on her name. I wanted something different so i asked users of another site for suggestions and 1 member who suggested it told me it meant diamond, but all the meanings i read sound lovely. Alana was after my step dad" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 12, 2010: "my daughter is called KYA, which means diamond in the sky(not spelt any other way because it would have a different meaning). most people dont say it right, but we are getting there slowly." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Dec 23, 2009: "My daughter is almost three years old, and I named her Kyah Lily. I love the meaning of her name, but had also only ever heard it in the movie Willow. If I had known it was this popular, I might have re-thought it....however she completely suits her name." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 12, 2009: "my name is Kya, im 19 years old nearly 20. i was born in Jan 1990. my mum was watching the movie Willow one late night and when she heard the name she decided right away that it was to be my name. i didnt really like it that much growing up. lots of people spelt it wrong (kia) and some people even add extra letters. but i like that no1 i know has the same name as i do" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 08, 2009: "My daughter was born May 6 2008 and we named her Kya Mai. My husband and I are big fans of Japanese anime. 'Kya' is a name from Princess Mononoke and 'Mai' is from My Neighbor Totoro.
We had this name picked out way before she was even conceived and so far it has been well received and even stolen a couple of times! :) However, my doctor's nurse still calls her kee-a, like the car - even though we correct her a dozen times - telling her it rhymes with my-a...she's old so we forgive her..."
