Thankfully though no one recognizes it as a male's name because of the feminie 'leigh' on the end. Comment left Feb 01, 2009: "My name is Kellie Jade Purves. I live in Australia and here Kelly is a pertty much a popular name not so much with the newer generation here. (I'm almost 20) And in my lifetime pretty much everyone spells my name wrong but Kelly is most popular known for having a 'Y' on the end. I have met so far of 10 people with the name Kelly but only 3 have the same spelling as me with an 'IE' on the end. I usually get called Kell, or with one of my clost friends she calls me Kell-Kell or Kell-Kells, and other times I might get called Kells, Karlie (as my mum likes to call me), Kell-Bell, Kellie-Belly, Kellie-Smelly lol, and that's pretty much it except I like to call myself KJ and a few of my really good friends to it's a nik name for my first and middle name. I always hated my name when I was little girl my dad wanted Kellie and Mum wanted Jade. When I was younger I wanted to change my name to Jade until I got older & I had a long hard think and I do quite like & now I wouldn't change it because it's what my parent's names me." Not keen on the Denise, but not a lot of names sound good with Kelly, really. I wouldn't mind if my parents had given me a different middle name, but I guess it fits. I do meet others with the same name sometimes, mostly spelt just like mine, with a "y". People do call ms Kels, KelKel, Smelly Kelly, Kelbel, etc. It just varies.
