Comment left Aug 04, 2009: "My little angel walks this world and her name is also Kaiya. I have read that it is Japanese, Aboriginal, and an African name. If it means forgiveness, then I like the simplicity and integrity of the name.
I chose "Kaiya" because I think it means "spear". The spear metaphor is always paralled to a stanza of an insightful poem written by a prophet called Kahil Ibrahim, called "Children".
This stanza compares parents and their offspring to a bow and arrow. The parent is the bow, directing, guiding, wisely tring to release the arrow (the child) so that the arrow finds the right direction.
I thought arrows and spears are rather similar, and the concept could be applied to the name "Kaiya" too. It is very versitile, can be abbreviated to "Kai".
Over all, even though many people spell and pronounce it incorrectly, it is a cute, beautiful name that I am glad we chose.

Willow's wife was named Kaiya and spelled the same way. I've always loved that name. When I tell people her name they love it.
