My middle name is Anne and I'm glad the name flows well, but I've called 'Polly' too and I really hate that. If my parents wanted to name me with a Y sound at the end, I would have wanted the name Leslie, which means 'small meadow,' or Amy, which means 'beloved.' Also, I travel a lot and whenever I leave the country, Holly is difficult to pronounce and becomes Holy, Oh-lee, or Allie. Then in my pre-teens and early teens, I met about seven Holly's with whom I went to school. The primary spelling was 'Holly' with 'Holley,' and 'Hollie' as variants. In college now, I haven't met too many, but still more than when I was a kid. I actually really like my name, although I was unsure for many years in my youth.
