User Comments about the name Enola
Comment left Apr 18, 2010: "You all do know that the first thing that most people will think of is the airplane that dropped first atomic bomb, which killed tens of thousands of people. It isn't Adolf as a first name, but really doesn't have great associations to normal people." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 29, 2010: "We are expecting in June and will name our daughter Enolah. We added the h on the end, so it doesn't spell alone backwards." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Dec 06, 2009: ""My daughter's name is Enola and so many people comment on how lovely and unusual it is. People often pronouce and spell it incorrectly but alot of names are like that. I didn't think it could be shortened but my dad calls her Noly. We've had people call her Anola, Nola, Elola and Encola. I know it means Magnolia in native american and i think it's beautiful and it really suits my beautiful daughter!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 14, 2009: "My name is Enol--I was told by a professor that the name means Ennoble. He said it is French and said there is a male character in a book by that name. I guess if Enola is female then maybe Enol would be the male counterpart. I am female though and love my name. Some family members make it sound musical. We are from the Caribbean. As a child, I was affectionately called Nol-Nol." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 20, 2009: "I have spend some of the day gathering information on the girl name Enola. There is not a lot out there but what I have found is that it is english in origin and that it is feminine.
I have named my dog Enola after a revisit to "Waterworld" and Kevin Costner.
Loved the name forever but never had a chance to name something Enola. I love her to bits and love her name" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 13, 2008: "My name is Enola! I was named after my grandmother, though I honestly have no idea what it means. I've always heard it's a Native American word for 'Magnolia', however, my grandmother was an East Indian woman who was born and raised in the Caribbean, so I feel that there must be another meaning. I didn't like my name when I was younger but it definitely grew on me. People pronounce it slightly wrong (such as UH NO LA or AH NO LA as opposed to E NO LA) and the spelling of it can be butchered, but that aside, I love my name." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jun 01, 2008: "Hello,
I'm a french woman...
I'm going to have a baby and if it's a girl, her name will be Enola. I'd like to know the date of "St Enola" ? I hope you understand what I've said. Thank you for your answer. Delphine" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 06, 2007: "My name is Enola, I too was named after my grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. I was teased more by my brothers than other school children. But as an adult people can butcher the name and spelling, so I shortened it (not-legally) to Nola, and they still get that wrong!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Oct 07, 2007: "My name is Enola and I love it!! Probably because it was my grandmother's name, so I wear it proud!! People always pronounce it Anola...I've even had people spell it that way, too, but it's pronounced E-no-la!! I love my name, but I hate that I used to get made fun of in grade school...I was called everything...granola, ebola virus, ecoli, etc!! But I guess that's just the immaturity of others! Anyway, I don't think there's anything wrong with the name Enola. And as far as it being uncommon, I'm glad it is! I'd hate to walk around with such a common name as Chris or Jennifer or any other common name! My name is unique, just as I am!!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Aug 18, 2007: "its kinda a crap name to give a child, in my opinion. i don't believe in back luck, not really but this name, spelt backwards is 'alone'. how.. lonely is that?!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Aug 14, 2007: "We also named our daughter Enola from the movie waterworld. The little girl looked just like my neice who is 1/2 samoan and 1/2 german. Since my husband is samoan and I am german it fit perfectly. Even though my little one didnt look like the little girl we still love the name." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 21, 2007: "My daughter's name is Enola. She was born in 2001. And at the time we lived on Enola Drive in the town of Enola, Pennsylvania. I love the name. We actually didn't name her Enola because of the town but because of the movie Waterworld. The little girl's name in the movie was Enola. We pronounce it E no la. Most people we come across love the name too." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 24, 2005: "we are thinking about naming our first daughter enola rose." (Report as inappropriate)
