Growing up I learned the meaning of my name was 'affable worker', not rival.

Yes, it means rival, but it also means 'a winner, winning' (smth like that). People always compliment and also mis-spell (but i'm used to it). Everyone calls me Emilia without trying to shorten it. Only family and childhood friends call me Emma, but I'd rather they called me Mia. I think one day when I have a child of my own I'll call her Mia, such a pretty name and similar to mine." She's now 2 and a half and is the only person I know with the name. We wanted something beautiful and different. And she suits the name perfectly! I do worry about how her name may affect her future and she will be forever correcting others, particularly as we prononuce it differently to many others with the name.
