I don't get why people assume I'm a guy, or that it's pronounced Dev-ON..I hate that. I never knew other girls had the name Devon spelled with an "O"! I've come across Devin, Davon's and even a Devinne pronounced Dev-in, but never spelled as mine is. It's a great name and I'm sticking with it!!!" (Report as inappropriate)

When you're young, it's extremely easy for a girl to get aggravated, because the majority of people see the name and, not considering spelling or anything, automatically think you're a boy - which can be embarrassing, especially if they put you into a boy's group for something (it's happened to me several times - 7th grade it was a choir class).
However, when you grow up, especially if you were born in a time frame where many Devon's weren't born, you get to realize how unique it is, which makes someone feel very independent - especially when you're surrounded by 6 'Tiffany's, 3 'Caitlyn's, and 5 'Sarah's." (Report as inappropriate)

However, now that I am older I have come to love having a name that I don't share with many other people. I have met a couple other girls and guys with the same name through out the years though.
