Comment left Feb 20, 2006: "I love my name for it is a combination of my parents' names. When I was still young, I thought that my name was kinda unique. People would mispronounce it as Deshi, Daisy, Days, and, etc. This has been the case every now and then. They'd often ask me if my name is short for Desiree or Jessica. One time, I thought of adding a new name to Dessie. I sometimes say my name during informal meetings as Dessie Marie. Ugh. I realized then that there's no other name that is sweeter than my name. I now don't use Dessie Marie. I am sticking to my name, "DESSIE". My missionary friend read my name as having the desire and the drive for better life.

Comment left Jul 25, 2005: "People ALWAYS pronounce it wrong. They tend to slur the "s" so it sounds like Dezzi. It is intended to be pronounced like Jessie, but with a D at the begining. I have not met any other people with this name, other than my mother and my great grand mother. Sometimes people do spell it right, but more often than not, it is spelled wrong. And most of the time, people don't even understand what I'm saying when I say it. It is commonly mistaken for: Bessy, Dusty, Jessie, Desire, Destiny and a couple of times Desty.
