Once in a GREAT while I'd meet someone who knew another Danae, but they were always younger than I.
MANY people ignore the *e* and pronounce it Dana, I've also been called Diane, Danielle (don't know how they managed THAT), Deanna, everything but Danae.
Danae is the mother of Perseus from Greek Mythology and I LOVE my name.
Every other Danae I've met (maybe 5 in my lifetime) has been a unique soul, usually creative, often opinionated and outspoken, always an individual.
I've always speculated that unique names breed unique people.
