I never went by a nickname until recently when friends and family started calling me Cee, which I'm ok with. However, I really hate when people just decide to call me Cindy since I hate the name Cindy! And never went by it as a nickname. I try to correct people now but many people who knew me as a little girl can't kick the habit! Maybe one day I won't be called Cindy anymore!" (Report as inappropriate)

When up to my senior year in high school I was the only Cinthia in my school, so many guys wanted to date me since my name was unique.. So that was a plus since I had the hottest guys in school. As I child I didn't like it and wanted a more common name like Vicky or Cathy but now I am so happy that my name is Cynthia. It is such a classy and elegant name. I do not like to be called Cindi/Cindy and insist on being introduced as Cynthia. I don't mind being called Cyn by my close friends/family but prefer Cynthia. All through grade school I was the only Cynthia; in high school there was only one other girl and we are still friends! She prefers Cynthia over Cindi/Cindy too. but i don't like being called cynthia but i hate the name cind. when i was smaller i used to call myself cini (tsi-ni) and everyone has been calling me that ever since.
i really like it and nobody i know, they don't know another cini so please don't copy it.

Comment left Feb 04, 2009: "I was born in the 70's and my parents named me Cynthia but called me Cindy. Growing up I tried changing the way I spelled Cindy to Cyndi. I grew out of that prior to jr high. When I hit my 30's and started a new job, I introduced myself as Cynthia. It wasn't until I got married and co-workers attended my wedding that my name Cindy came back. Co-workers were blown away that everybody else who knew me called me Cindy. I don't mind that for some reason. One person can not get my name right at all and he calls me Cynthinee or sometimes Cynthinia. He tries though.
