Comment left Jan 07, 2012: "I didn't like my name when I was in elementary school (which was most of the 90's) because no one else had my name except for my godmother who is about 60 years older. No one knew how to say or spell it (as well as my last name, so its a double whammy!).
And there were NEVER keychains, mugs, mini license plates etc with Chloe on them! (And now they're usually sold out! Ha!)
When I was younger I insisted my teachers and the other students call me by whatever name I fancied in a given year. In kindergarten I was Christina.
I was Eliza in 3rd grade and Lizzie in 5th (I loved the name Elizabeth but there was already one in my class). I even signed all my assignments and things with those name! Lol.
I still get the spellings Chole, Cleo, and Cole as well. Chole particularly annoys me to no end, especially when someone texts me or facebooks me and my name is RIGHT THERE for them to see!
However, I used to save my starbucks cups that had outrageous spellings like Klowey, Calloway, etc.
I as well have been nicknamed Clover, Chlo, and Chlo-Chlo. (Chlo-Chlo is reserved for family. and I now allow close friends to call me Chlo).
I had a book when I was little called Chloe and the Jungle Gym which was very special to me. Just having SOMEthing with my name on/in it helped me to see that my name is special. But I still struggled with it for a long time.
Also, when I was younger I didn't like the way my name "rolled" off people's tongues. They seemed to gulp or swallow it! Almost a glottal stop. Very ugly!
As an adult, I really love my name. I treasure its exotic appeal and beauty. Sometimes I wish it was still rare.
Also, I am Greek. So I really love my name all the more. My godmother who I was named after is also Greek. I am proud to be Greek, and my name shows off a beautiful classic Greek flavor.
Funny story: my mom was debating what to name me. My dad wanted to name me something like Ashley or Nicole (by the way, my middle name is Nichole! Has to have the 'h' ;) ) but one day while my mom was pregnant with me she was reading a magazine and there was a giant 2 page spread ad for Chloe perfume and THAT was her confirmation that I will be Chloe. :) I love that story!
OH, also, I STILL get surprised to meet other Chloes!!! For so long, I was the only one (besides my much older godmother I rarely saw) with my name. It bugs me when I turn my head and they're talking to or about a different Chloe. I know it happens often with other names but I didn't grow up with that experience so it still jars me a little.
Ps. Because of not knowing other Chloes when I was growing up, I am so biased about what a 'Chloe' should look like and what middle and last name it should be paired with! Lol! You gotta be Greek, curly brown hair/hazel eyes. I still find it odd to meet or see a blonde/blue-eyed Chloe) and you gotta have a Greek or at least an ethnic sounding last name (I don't like when I see it with surnames like Smith or Jones or Williams etc.) Lol. No offense if any of those are your last name or if you're blonde/blue-eyed..its just how I've always felt, and have a limited view connected with my name. :)
So that's my long story of my name. I could go on forever! :)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 09, 2010: "My name is Chloe Jewell and I love my name :) but it's often spelled wrong or mispronounced. Yep people spell it chole or cloe. My friends always joke around with me calling me what people have read it as before. Usually these are from substitue teachers. I've gotten shloe (sh-low), chole (cho-lee), cole, and tons others. But I wouldn't trade my name, ever :)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 06, 2010: "My name is Chloe and I LOVE it!! I've had my name spelled and pronounced so many different ways, but whatever. I have MANY MANY MANY nicknames and twists with my name from friends. I think it is somewhat of a unique name: not too common like Brittany or Ashley but not too bizarre like TopRamen-iqua." Comment left Mar 27, 2010: "my name's Chloe and it drives me bats when people spell it 'Chole' as well.. recently I worked in a place where they made us wear name badges, they gave me a name badge that said 'Chole'! I have no idea why people do this and I wish people would take the time to spell someone's name correctly it's really insulting and lazy! Other than that, I think Chloe is a very pretty name although I prefer Cleo, and have been sometimes mistakenly called Cleo. I like Claudia as well." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 08, 2010: "I named my daughter Chloe because it was so pretty and unique. I had recently read two books.. a really old one and a really new one that both had that name for an important character. My daughter was born in 2007. No one I knew had ever heard of it. Then all of a sudden everyone knew someone with that name and my husband's distant cousin named their daughter the same thing. Funny how that works." (Report as inappropriate)

When she was born, so many people never heard of the name and did not know how to pronounce if they saw it spelled (Chloe). I am so surprised that is now on the top 10 list for popular girl names. I still love the name and my daughter loves it too! It fits her perfectly. I am glad there are not that many girls her age that have the same name as her." (Report as inappropriate)
