Most people manage to spell it right, although I have had 'Chelsie' and so on or even 'Chealsea' o.O The only person who ever called me Chelse-ah was my French teacher, so she's excused.
I think most people probably associate this name with the football club more than anything else!
I don't think this is such a bad name... it's not too common (like, for example, Jessica) but not really strange. It's not that similar to many other names, so people never confuse it with anything except maybe Kelsey.
