User Comments about the name Celia

Comment left Jul 20, 2008: "My daughter's name is Celia--she's 3 1/2 at present--it is awesome to see such a doll with a "grown up" name --people are always impressed with her name. I did good! :-) Some people call her Cecelia which is annoying because it doesn't sound the same to me at all. We pronounce her name Cee-lee-uh, not Seel-yuh." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 21, 2008: "My name is Celia and I love my name! People spell my name wrong all the time... Silia, Cilia, etc... and I have been called Ophelia and Cecile. People also have called me Cecilia... I don't like being called Cecilia because it isn't my name! My name is pronounced all different ways... Sealyuh, Seelya, Sellya (I don't like that one!)... haha but I have never really thought about the correct way to say my name. I'm from Alabama so I'll go with Sealyuh. :) And also, like the comment before mine, people also break out into song when they hear my name... Simon and Garfunkels "Cecilia". I also love the fact that when people say Celia everyone knows that it's me without having my last name said. All in all, I love my name!" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left May 13, 2008: "i am celia i am awesome i love my name because some people hate it and it makes me happy to know that i can find joy out of people hating somehting about me yay" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left May 12, 2008: "wow i never expected to find so many people with my name! ive always wanted to find someone with my name that is around my age but i have never had the pleasure of meeting anyone. i am the only celia i know. but after meeting someone with teh name cecelia, i feel like my name isnt so unique anymore. i ride the bus with a cecelia and a silvia so it gets pretty confusing and i always hope for some nickname but it never works out. i do like my name because no one else has one that is so creative with so much meaning. my mom debated on other names for me like scarlette and olivia but the doctor wouldnt let her leave the hospital before she named me celia so it stuck. i hope to some day find someone my age that shares my name (because at least SOMEONE will know hwo to spell and pronounce it correctly)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 14, 2008: "My name is Celia, I've also been called Julia and Cicelia. As well as Ophelia, Selena, Cecile, Phelia and all sorts of other weird combos. I live in Canada and have met a handful of people in my life with the name. I love my name. it makes me feel special. People make it seem so exotic, they ask me "are you Mexican, or Italian or Portuguese?" I smile and say "no, my mom just really liked the name" I've also seen 2 people online with the same last name as me, i feel my identity has been robbed. :(" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 22, 2008: "I love my name and like everyone else.. people do try to call me cicelia but it's okay cause once they get to know me they pronounce it right... but i too get comments on how pretty my name is =]" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 18, 2008: "I love my name. People always tell me that I have such a beautiful name!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 27, 2007: "My name is Celia. I do love my name because it is so unique, but, upon meeting new people, my name is almost never pronounced correctly. People assume my name is Cicelia even though it is not how I introduce myself. People sometimes spell my name wrong as well. However, I love having my name as Celia because it is different, and I always get comments about how pretty my name is and how much people love it." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 11, 2007: "My name is Celia too, I'm 51 and have only every met 2 other people with this name in my lifetime so far. And yes I get called Cecilia and "the song" sung at me all the time too and usually have to spell out it for people. Some of my friends call me Cely, but I love my name and it makes me feel quite unique to be the only Celia around... plus as it's uncommon people usually remember it, unlike me who forgets everybody else's names. LOL I was named after my mother's friend, The Honourable Lady Celia Monkton... the other choice was Helga!" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Dec 06, 2007: "Haha. My name is Celia and I get many of the same comments I've read here. The Simon and Garfunkel song Cecilia is often sung to me by people I just met and everyone always thinks I've said Cecilia when I introduce myself. Wierdly enough, people have no clue how to spell Celia and always ask. I was the only one I knew with this name until a few years ago and now I know 4 others. I have come to love this name even if people always get it wrong. Much love" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 05, 2007: "People always want to call my daughter Cecilia or Cecile. I have to say "No, JUST Celia" or "Cecilia with out the Ce". Then others break out into song... Simon and Garfunkels "Cecilia". I haven't met anyone else with this name. But I still love the name, she was named after her Great Grandmother." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 10, 2007: "We just named our daughter Celia. SHe's 3 weeks old today! We named her after my husband's grandmother. I found it to be a classic but unique name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 08, 2007: "My name is Celia. I was born in 1955 and it was certainly a different name--most girls were named Linda, Barb, Debbie, etc. Although I frequently have to spell it out for people--sometimes more than once--I still like it as when people say "Celia" everyone knows it is me, without having to use my last name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 22, 2007: "My name is Celia and i love it. people sometimes call me celia like if its a gringas name but its a latin name meaning heavinly!" (Report as inappropriate)

Well, I'm from Portugal and this name here is pronounced like 'Sell ya'... exactly, like if I 'sell ya' something...:)I like my name very much. Not a lot of people have this name. I believe it means heaven. I've studied in the US and people used to call me Seelya...:) I love that too. I believe people with this name have a strong character, good heart and something magical about themselves. *****" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 18, 2006: "My name is Celia - quite often people pronounce & misspell it, I live in the Caribbean & I've been called Cecelia, Sheila, Celie, Cecile - it annoys me sometimes but I guess I'm used to it cuz I like my name." (Report as inappropriate)
