People also have called me Cecilia... I don't like being called Cecilia because it isn't my name! My name is pronounced all different ways... Sealyuh, Seelya, Sellya (I don't like that one!)... haha but I have never really thought about the correct way to say my name. I'm from Alabama so I'll go with Sealyuh. :) And also, like the comment before mine, people also break out into song when they hear my name... Simon and Garfunkels "Cecilia". Comment left May 12, 2008: "wow i never expected to find so many people with my name! ive always wanted to find someone with my name that is around my age but i have never had the pleasure of meeting anyone. i am the only celia i know. but after meeting someone with teh name cecelia, i feel like my name isnt so unique anymore. i ride the bus with a cecelia and a silvia so it gets pretty confusing and i always hope for some nickname but it never works out. i do like my name because no one else has one that is so creative with so much meaning. my mom debated on other names for me like scarlette and olivia but the doctor wouldnt let her leave the hospital before she named me celia so it stuck. i hope to some day find someone my age that shares my name (because at least SOMEONE will know hwo to spell and pronounce it correctly)" (Report as inappropriate)

I live in Canada and have met a handful of people in my life with the name. I love my name. it makes me feel special. People make it seem so exotic, they ask me "are you Mexican, or Italian or Portuguese?" Some of my friends call me Cely, but I love my name and it makes me feel quite unique to be the only Celia around... plus as it's uncommon people usually remember it, unlike me who forgets everybody else's names. LOL

The Simon and Garfunkel song Cecilia is often sung to me by people I just met and everyone always thinks I've said Cecilia when I introduce myself. Wierdly enough, people have no clue how to spell Celia and always ask. I was the only one I knew with this name until a few years ago and now I know 4 others. My name is Cılia( Celia) I don't know if you can see the accent on top of the letter 'e'. Well, I'm from Portugal and this name here is pronounced like 'Sell ya'... exactly, like if I 'sell ya' something...:)I like my name very much. Not a lot of people have this name. I believe it means heaven. I've studied in the US and people used to call me Seelya...:) I love that too.
