Comment left Jun 15, 2010: "My name is Caitlin. There aren't many people who can spell it correctly! My parents and siblings can, but many of my relatives can't! I rarely have pronunciation issues though. I know at least 15 other girls with the same name as me (Different and same spellings) so it's kinda fun to compare how we spell it and crazy spelling mistakes that come from it!
I don't get all upset when someone spells it wrong, I usually correct them though! Nobody likes to see their name spelled wrong!
My mom and dad names me and my siblings with names that begin with the "K" sound. There is three of us, so when my mom goes "K..." all of us are like "What?" My mom sometimes calls me caitie-lynn, or cait, I also get called caitie-lady and caitie-pooh (This is one that I was NOT fond of!). I remember when i was in grade 11. There were three girls in my math class, including me, with the same name (all different spellings, mine Caitlin, one Kaitlyn and one Katelyn. It was quite confusing! Also, there is two of us, with the same spelling, so it gets really confusing when someone goes over the PA saying "Caitlin call ext 179" We are both like "Uh, which one?"

My mother chose it back in 1981 when I was born to remind me and rest of my Irish siblings with Irish names of our heritage. Well, a lot of people spell my name wrong. They either spell it Kaitlyn, Caitlyn, or Kaitlin. It happens on birthday cards, and people always ask me how to spell it. Is 'Caitlin' that really hard to spell anyways? o.0 No matter how many ways to spell Caitlin I love my way because it is the most beautiful and original Gaelic way, and I was named after my grandmother who was named Catherine, that passed away when my father was very young. My name means virginal beauty, and Catherine means pure and virginal. I think my name suits me, I love it. :]" (Report as inappropriate)
