Comment left Mar 20, 2009: "I love my name, I wouldn't have it any other way. It was also my grandmother's middle name. Most English speakers have trouble pronouncing it correctly, so I prefer to be called "Bea" (pronounced "Beh-ah", not "Bee") than go by "Beatrice" (which is nice too, just not my name). Anyone else I've told me name too who doesn't speak English as a first language pronounces it just fine.

Instead of spelling it with 'ce' in the end, my parents decided to go with a 'z' to make it unique. I love my name, however, people mispronounce my name as Beatrix (beet-rix) or Beet-ris instead of Beah-tris and I really get offended.
Originally, my parents shortened my name to Trizsha but then with no particular reason it changed to Bea (beah) when I was in elementary. Only two people pronounce my nickname as 'bee' and that will be my sister and my dance teacher, which is fine by me though I actually prefer my nickname to be pronounced as Beah. =)" (Report as inappropriate)
