I always hated it when i was a child because it was different and i wanted to be something everyone could pronounce and was common, but now i am older i see the beauty in being called something original and beautiful i love my name now and think it suits my personality really well. I've never in my life met anyone else called it although i've heard of people. It's such an unusual name and so pretty. Most people pronounce it bee-trice but personally i like beaa-trice my knickname has always been bebe ever since i was born even before i was called beatrice its just coincidence they are similar, but i dont like strangers and teachers calling me that so i just say beatrice. However, in the north of England, a Beatrice there, usually one in old age, would be the one to pronounce the name as 'bee-triss'. I love my name, however, like what the others have mentioned, people mispronounce my name as Beatrix (beet-rix) or Beet-ris instead of Beah-tris and I really get offended.
Originally, my parents shortened my name to Trizsha but then with no particular reason it changed to Bea (beah) when I was in elementary. Only two people pronounce my nickname as 'bee' and that will be my sister and my dance teacher, which is fine by me though I actually prefer my nickname to be pronounced as Beah. =)" (Report as inappropriate)

i like the pronunciation: BAY-a-treece instead of BEE-a-treece. I also like the meaning and think of a pretty young girl when I hear it. old is new now and it's suitably old-fashioned and at the beginning of a comeback. I am thinking of the combination "Beatrice Diana-Clare"

I now hear many girl's with this name. Ma friends usually spell it wrong "bi-triss" and spell it wrong "bitris,betris and bitres". I hate all those who spell or pronounce my name incorectly.
