Comment left Jul 25, 2009: "I named my Daughter Ayla (A-la) actually based on an older rpg game named Chrono Trigger. The game represented her as a fighter . from out of the woods (which makes sense with the oak tree hebrew translation) & better yet, a diff hebrew translation as a Goddess

Its the Kayla without the K way too =]. i realli realli like my name. my mom got it from the book the clan of the cave bear. she fell in love with that name in high school. im 15 and absolutly adore my name. i wouldnt change it for anything. its nothing special, or not even as unique as i thought that it was, but i realli do love ad adore my name. it does irritate me tho when people miss pronounce it, i mean yes, there are many different ways to pronounce it, but the way i was named, well, it just kinda ticks me off. overall thought, i would absolutly love to meet another ayla. I also fell in love with the name after reading the whole Earth Children's Series (first book is Clan of the Cave Bear). I wanted to name her after the character because she is strong, independent, and beautiful. Comment left Jun 10, 2009: "My nickname is Ayla, its a part anagram of my birth name which i dont like very much. About 70% of people call me by the name Ayla. Its been my nickname since the age of 10 (i'm 23 now). I'm not sure about other languages, but if you are using the Turkish form it is NOT pronounced like "Kayla" without the K, but rather "I" as in "I want" and "lah" on the end. Like "I-lah". As i say, i'm not sure about the Hebrew and Greek forms, but the Turkish form is pronounced slightly different... Just my two cents worth. ;) I've never had any negative reaction from people either. Everyone really loves it. Its a pretty name, pretty sad how its just my nickname rather than my birth name..." (Report as inappropriate)

She watched this movie a couple times when she was pregnant with me and it stuck out in her head. She thought the name was different and unique and she thought I would be that way growing up, kinda the outcast because I was unique. Well she was right lol. I love this name it's so beautiful and different. It goes well with my first name too. I love it. Comment left Apr 14, 2009: "AYYY- LAH, Kayla without the K is always how I introduce myself, because people just DONT get the name off the first hop, usually call me Alanah, Alia,Ala,Isla, its actually a great conversation starter or ice breaker, I was named based on the Jean M Aeul books/Clan of the cavebear, and absolutly love the character Ayla. One bad thing is I could never get a toothbrush or keychain with my name on it like my siblings had.. :( but my name is Ayla June and I am a singer, I am strong opinionated determined dedicated and very independant, its good to see there are more of Ayla out there than i had even imagined...keep spreading the name!!!
- Ayla is a Turkish name meaning "circle of cristalic light around the sun or moon". Since Ayla is reserved for the feminine, it is usually synonymous with "moonlight".

I have met only one. my family and I were at the mall, and a person was wearing a name tag that said Ayla so we asked if that was their real name and it was, but I was really bummed because I never wanted to meat another Ayla. It was very funny when I was a child and we had a substitute teacher. If we were taking attendance in the morning and the sub got the name right on the first try people would start clapping and the sub would get confused and say "Did I say it right?"
