Instead of teaching her to spell Abbigail with only 1 B but then having to add an extra B in when shortening it to Abbi (as Abi looks stupid) we decided to add the extra B. Didn't have any idea how common it actually was (I have never met another one with 2 B's in New Zealand). to me it is do different to many names that need to be spelt out unless ur name is Lisa or Anne or something! how can it cause misspellings? It is a name, you have been named that, so that is how it is spelt. there is no right or wrong way to spell it. and i was born in 1992.
