Now that he is 3 and starting school people have started calling him Alex but he always tells me he loves the name Xander but doesnt mind if anyone calls him Alex. They say he will be made fun of or that he will have to go to a job interview with this name yep he sure will and the other applicants will be Apple,Scout,Xavier etc! What a stupid thing to say, this is our child and none of anyone elses business besides Xander is a great name so they just need to get used to it. I agree with the blogger that said her family would have been happy with Floyd or Wayne! I hear ya that is so true but those names would get made fun of in this day and age way before Xander!" My full name is Alexander and i could not pronounce it so i just said "xander'. Comment left Feb 11, 2009: "We are naming our baby boy due in May Xander and a lot of the "older" folk in my family hate the name, but they wanted to name him Floyd or Wayne, which I despise. I think Xander is a great name and you can name you kid anything, saying Xander is a nickname and not a real name is like saying April or June or August is a month not a name.
We wanted something unique and uncommon, and there we have it! Comparing Xander to Elmer... is just silly and a horrible comparison as Xander is not trendy, and who cares? Your kid isn't going to change his name in 40 years because it's "outdated" he's going to love it because it meant something when he was named." (Report as inappropriate)

"X-Zander?" And people who think I spell it with a "Z" or call him "Z" for short no matter how many times I tell them his name is Xander with an X, it is is full name and not short for Alexander, and is pronounced "Zander" but with an "X". How hard is that to understand?" (Report as inappropriate)
