(Probably not even as clever, since it's just Alexander chopped off) It's a trendy name that 40 years from now is going to look as dated as leisure suits. I never watched Buffy and had actually never really heard the name before until my husband said "what about the name Xander for a boy" and my first thought very powerful. Sometimes people mispronounce it "EX-ander", but I simply correct them (by describing how to pronounce the name "Alexander") and they get it. Otherwise, people always tell me they like it, that it's cool, and so forth. It's one of those names that people remember and want to say all the time when they talk with you. 60% of the people I converse with always start sentences with me saying, "Xander,...."."
