Comment left Jul 14, 2009: "My son in 5 1/2 and loves his name Xander. Alot of people misspell it as Zander. He just finished learning letter sounds and at first was saying his name was spelled wrong, but after we discussed x endings and xylophone he gets it now. I love the name and it suits his great. We named him after vin diesel in XXX movie. Also Buffy's friend was Xander too!! And there is a Xander in PowerRangers so he loves watching that!!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 11, 2009: "I really like Xander. I like Alexander as well but I can't stand the nn Alex so I'd use just Xander as a full name if I could." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 28, 2009: "I adore the name Xander! We named our little boy Xander, and i love the fact there wont be another child in his Class that shares his name! The only problem with it is, people seem to pronounce it X-Zander.." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 21, 2009: "My son is named Alexander and we call him Xander for short. I LOVE the name Xander and also Alexander. I figured this way he would have a choice when he was older. Now that he is 3 and starting school people have started calling him Alex but he always tells me he loves the name Xander but doesnt mind if anyone calls him Alex. I also get the Sander thing and his own grandpa calls him Z man lol. what can ya do but he knows his name and takes pride in it and thats all that matters" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Jun 12, 2009: "I am having a baby boy on Oct and my husband and I have loved the name Xander for years! Most of his family HATE it and beg us not to name him that. They say he will be made fun of or that he will have to go to a job interview with this name yep he sure will and the other applicants will be Apple,Scout,Xavier etc! What a stupid thing to say, this is our child and none of anyone elses business besides Xander is a great name so they just need to get used to it. I agree with the blogger that said her family would have been happy with Floyd or Wayne! I hear ya that is so true but those names would get made fun of in this day and age way before Xander!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 11, 2009: "My name is Xander. My mom or dad dod not give me this name like other parents might, yes i did give my self this name when i was about 3 back in 1996. My full name is Alexander and i could not pronounce it so i just said "xander'. At first i soelled it with a "Z" but when I was 6 i switched it to a "X" now i hve to correct Ecc-ander and Z-man...its a lot of fun!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 09, 2009: "My son is a Xander and will be six in July. We do get the people who call him X-Zander, Alex, or even spell it with a Z. But, now he corrects them because he loves his name just as his mama and papa do!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 21, 2009: "My grandson's name is Xander and at first I hated it. I'm used to it now, but my husband still hates it. He didn't want to name him Alexander because so many in our family have Alexander as the middle name, so along comes Xander." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 09, 2009: "My husband and I are Mexican-Americans. We both love Xander as our son's nickname (who is due any minute now). However, I have a problem. He wants to spell his name in Spanish and I want to spell it in English! It's Alejandro vs. Alexander. My husband insists on it being spelled in Spanish because we are "Mexican", but I disagree! How can we call him Xander when his name is Alejandro?! Should i just let it go?! Am I making a big deal?" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 25, 2009: "I plan to name my son Alexander, Xander for short." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 21, 2009: "We have named our 4 week old son Xander, it's a brill name but people have pronounced it Exander which is a little irritating however we still love it as it is both unusual and great sounding." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 15, 2009: "Im due in June and Im naming my son Xander. We hated the name Alexander cuz we didnt want people to call him Alex. So we stuck with Xander. And when people ask why its spelled with an X, I tell them its just like Xylophone. Then they get it. And yes, I have been getting people saying X-Zander-which is really annoying, and Im finally getting people broken of it." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 11, 2009: "We are naming our baby boy due in May Xander and a lot of the "older" folk in my family hate the name, but they wanted to name him Floyd or Wayne, which I despise. I think Xander is a great name and you can name you kid anything, saying Xander is a nickname and not a real name is like saying April or June or August is a month not a name. We wanted something unique and uncommon, and there we have it! Comparing Xander to Elmer... is just silly and a horrible comparison as Xander is not trendy, and who cares? Your kid isn't going to change his name in 40 years because it's "outdated" he's going to love it because it meant something when he was named." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 29, 2009: "i have a 3 year old son named Xander, i get the same problems with people calling him x-ander. i don't even bother correcting them anymore, really, whats the point? i do however find it annyoing that his own grandfather calls him z, no matter how many times i correct him! great name! strong, and unique!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jan 13, 2009: "My son is names Xander. He is 2 1/2. Everyone hated it at first but not that he is born everyone loves it. In fact it suits him just right. He's my lil X man." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Dec 21, 2008: "I love the name Xander. The only thing I don't like is how people pronounce it "X-Zander" Why would I name my child "X-Zander?" And people who think I spell it with a "Z" or call him "Z" for short no matter how many times I tell them his name is Xander with an X, it is is full name and not short for Alexander, and is pronounced "Zander" but with an "X". How hard is that to understand?" (Report as inappropriate)
