Comment left Feb 07, 2008: "most people spell it correctly with 2 "e"'s and 2 "l"'s. I get called Shell and Shelly by various people close to me." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jul 26, 2007: "My experience with this name is I have had three daughter-in-laws with this first name. All turned out to be quite a piece of work, and bad judgement on my sons' parts. All three took the sons for all they could get when they were married to them, and when they divorced them. What a name. I hope no one in this family EVER marries a Michelle again." Comment left May 22, 2006: "Hi my name is michelle and yes i have people pronounce it wrong it is always said as mitchelle but no i am not a guy and i have a friend who is named michelle as well and her last name starts with w and so does mine she is also in all my school classes so it gets confusing when the teachers ask for michelle or calls the roll because i am so used to being at the end of the roll so i automatically answer here when it is really the other michelle she comes first but i think my name does not suite me my mum wanted to name me shakira but i ended with michelle well that was my life story so hope you enjoyed it buy all" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 09, 2006: "No one has had any trouble pronouncing it, but just in case you're from a different country, it's MI-SHELL, that's how you say it. Isn't it pretty? When I was younger my family called my Shell or Shelly.
I like my name very much. I am 17, and I live in the U.S. My parents named me that just because they liked the sound of it, but apparently it's the feminine Hebrew equivalent of "Michael," 'One who is like God.' So now I like my name even more. Also, I haven't had any trouble with my name; I've had other Michelles in my gradeschool classes a few times, so it's not a rare name, but it's not annoyingly common, either. Good combination, yeah? Also, the only hesitancy anyone has had in spelling my name is on whether to spell it "Michele" with one L, or with two. That's not too bad; I mean, most names have at least one spelling variant, so that's not a problem. Also, that is odd that the graph above shows that Michelle was a boy's name. First, because it is clearly a girl's name, it just sounds feminine, doesn't it? Also, I've never known a male Michelle. And, it's supposed to be the feminine version of Michael, at least according to another website. So, don't worry about it being a boy's name.
In short, it's a good name." (Report as inappropriate)
