Comment left Feb 16, 2007: "People pronounce and spell it wrong all the time for example they spell it "Meehawl" or "Mehall" and they prenounce it Michael. it is really annoying. i have only met one person with the same name" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 22, 2007: "This is my name. It was spelt without the h, as in old Irish, a dot or bulcha over the c was used to invoke the ch sound, also a fada was usually present over the a. The correct modern spelling is Mıcheıl. The fada's over both the i and the e makes these vowels long giving the Me-ha-al or Me-hall sound. Hope that helped." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Apr 29, 2006: "I born John Micheal in 1947. I was born on grandfather's (John) birthday and my family called me Micky. I thought my name was Michael John until I switched schools in 8th grade and my teacher told me it was John Michael. I jioned the US Airforce on April 10, 1966 and signed all my induction papers John Michael. At the end of the day the USAF officials showed me that the name on my birth certificate said John Micheal and I had to go back and change all the ae's to ea's. After my first military reprimand for not knowing what my name is,I still didn't know. Until a couple weeks ago I thought I had misspelled Michael on my induction papers and have always spelled my name as Michael since April of 1966. About two weeks ago(April 2006) I was looking at some of my old papers and I came accross my birth certificate. My name is spelled John Micheal. I never knew there is two spelings of the name michael.
Thank you,
John Micheal Dearth" (Report as inappropriate)
