User Comments about the name Madison

Comment left Aug 14, 2008: "My name is Madison, and so many people spell it wrong! I also spell my nickname 'Madi' and so many people can't understand it! I don't understand why because it's just Madison without the son, but so many spell it Maddie or Maddy or Mady or Madie. It's strange! I haven't meant another girl - or boy - who spells it Madi." Comment left Jul 29, 2008: "My name is Preston Kramer Madison and I definitely like it... Though it's become popular as a girl's name because of a film, the origin and ethymology make it the perfect choice for a handsome charming guy as myself." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Apr 21, 2008: "My Little sister's name is madison. My parents had gotten the name from me. But i had gotten the name from the movie splash." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Mar 04, 2008: "My daughter is Madison too! And I like many others picked it up originally from Splash and then from a Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeifer (not sure how to spell her last name)movie! I personally think it is a strong female name when used as Madison. We call her Madi at times, but she is young. My only issue after we named her was the increase in popularity of the name or should I say the reported increase. Supposedly its been a top 10 for years now. But in 2 years of preschool we have never had 1 Madison in her class nor ran across 1 except a 5 year old when my daughter first entered the program! So I think it can be a region thing too! It all just depends. Plus, I think if you like the name and it is spelled correctly and not so bizarre that your child won't be taunted...then go for it!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Oct 09, 2007: "My daughter's name is Madison. I think since the movie Splash, about the mermaid, it's become viewed more as a girl's name." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 27, 2007: "Do you think it would be better as a boy or girls name?" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 15, 2007: "My name is Madison, i am a girl, and people can always pronounce my name right but sometimes people spell mt name with two D's like, Maddison, all my friends call me Maddie, and my mom got my name from the movie "Splash."" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 14, 2007: "My daughters name is Madison Grace. I think the meaning of her name fits her well, as she is strong willed. She looks like a Madison and sometimes I call her Mattie. I think it is a great girls name and it is a classic." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Aug 06, 2007: "my name is madison iam a girl my parents got the idea from the movie splash" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Jun 17, 2007: "My name is Madison, and I am 17 years old. In the city I live in, I have only met one other girl my age with the name. I love it, but I hate it when people call me Maddie. It's so cute when little girls come up to me and say "My name is Madison too!" It makes me feel special." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 28, 2007: "My name isnt madison, but I am thinking about naming my baby if its a boy, Madison. What do you think of Madison for a boy's name?" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left May 02, 2007: "my name is madison, i am a boy, and i am proud of my name. I have never met another boy with the name 'madison,' but i have met lots of girls with the name 'madison.'" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left May 02, 2007: "its kinda weird that it can be a boys name too its pretty im a girl and i like my name but its also weird that im named after a warrior but im a tom boy so what" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Apr 02, 2007: "It IS an odd name for a girl given its etymology: 'Son of...'. Great name!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Feb 24, 2007: "I Love the name Madison, Im having a baby boy, but I've heard is a girl's name which it makes me feel confused, It sounds more like a boy's name, anyway, is unique and not common here in England!" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Feb 10, 2007: "my name is madison, i am ten years old and i love my name. i have found it to be very unique after all i am named after a president. What could be greater? Answer: nothing" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Oct 06, 2006: "love it for a boys name.. but won't use it because its in the top 5 names for girls these days... too bad though.. i think a boy would get teased too much if it was used." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 27, 2006: "My name is Madison, and im a guy. I like my name. A lot of people say its a girls name, but I dont think its a girly name because the name itself means "Son of the mighty warrior" Or "Son of" Why would you name your daughter "The son of". Surname of a president, name of many towns and cities/streets, a great name for a guy." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left May 27, 2006: ""Madison" seemed to become popular for a girl's name after the movie "Splash". What's interesting is that the mermaid's name was not "Madison"; she (the mermaid) picked it up off a street sign in NYC. So, actually these young girls are being named after a street!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 22, 2005: "The name Madison is not modern. It is old as the hills. Check out the decade it was popular, and how long this name has been around." (Report as inappropriate)
