He was born with a low chance of survival, and was in the ICU for 10 days. You would never know it now though. Comment left Apr 28, 2009: "My son was born 15/8/01. I named him Kaiden, but it is not pronounced Kayden, as in rhyming with Maiden. People do pronounce it wrong as Kayden, until it is corrected!. I thought his name was unique in spelling, and pronunciation, as it was made up from other names, but have since discovered on the web lots of names spelt Kaiden, but pronounced Kayden. My son's name is pronounced Kai, as rhyming with Eye, Kai-den. I have not heard of any other Kaiden, in Oz or NZ pronounced this way. Anybody else pronounce Kaiden this way?. Thanks." Comment left Apr 26, 2009: "We were looking for boys name for our second and "Caden" kept popping in a majority of the baby name sites we visited, I really liked it but didn't want another "C" name as our first had a "C" name, someone suggested spelling it "Kaiden" pronounced simply "K-den". We didn't like it spelt with a "K" at first but it grew on us. Like may others we hadn't heard of it either and liked that fact, so we called our son, once born "Kaiden Riley", we really like it and so does everyone else. I have heard of one other little boy with the same name and spelt the same too, so not very popular in Oz or NZ yet, hopefully it will stay that way!!" (Report as inappropriate)

It was the only boys name we agreed on. We hadn't heard of any other Kaiden's before. Later on we read in a baby name book that it meant friend and companion. People do frequently pronounce it KIDEN (rhymes with BIDEN), but AID is pronounced MAID, RAID, AFRAID, etc, so it seems fairly simple to me.
