User Comments about the name Jonah
Comment left May 09, 2008: "Jonah is my 19 month-old son's name. God blessed him from the very beginning...born healthy at 32 weeks, 4lbs 4oz. Jonah was a great prophet who yes, disobeyed and then repented, but how many other great Bible leaders do you know who were without fault?
Jonah is a beautiful name!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Mar 14, 2008: "Love the name. It's my son's name. It means : a dove, and he is a boy that brings peace - a peace maker." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 24, 2008: "I like this name because it belongs to my five year old son, but now that he has started school, there are five other Jonah's at his school within a two year age range. I had no idea it would become so popular." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 21, 2008: "Our boy arriving in June is going to be named Jonah. Our family is spiritual, but not religious and I see Jonah as a mythical name rather than a religious one. I also quite like the irony implicit therein." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 17, 2008: "This will be my son's name (due in August.) His father's favorite biblical story is that of the prophet Jonah, and my husband's mother's name is Jona (pronounced John-uh) so this will be a male form of her name." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 09, 2008: "My wife and I are expecting this May and want to name our boy, Jonah. We feel this name carries images of strength and love, characteristics we hope our son will embody." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 03, 2008: "i have identical girl twins sophia and hope, and an older son jacob, before the twins were born me & my husband agreed that if it was another boy we would either call it caesar or jonah." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 02, 2008: "I agree totally! My son's name is Jonah as well. I don't see it as common... I hardly know of any other Jonahs out there, whereas Noah is really popular. Jonah of the Bible was so much like all of us, too. Wanting God to forgive us, but not always wanting Him to forgive others. It's a beautiful story of grace." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 01, 2007: "I like this name. It is my son's name. I thought it was a nice alternate to all the Noah's out there. The biblical prophet, Jonah, taught us about God's forgiveness and love for all. Anyone who wants to repent and turn to God can find salvation. He also taught us that God is a universal God. There is but ONE God, and He alone is to be the God of all people. Jonah was not just some guy who got "swallowed by a whale."" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Sep 19, 2007: "My name is Jonah. Warning: he will be teased. Name also has an ominous feeling I cannot shed." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jun 07, 2007: "I know someone that is named Jonah and I think it isn't a very nice sounding name. The Jonah I know is incredibly annoying" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Feb 21, 2007: "I like the sound of this name a lot but as it's supposed to mean something negative, I probably wouldn't consider the name Jonah for my child." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Jan 21, 2007: "My son's name is Jonah as well...born 2006. We love it!!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Dec 23, 2006: "I love the sound of the name, very cool. However, if you read about Jonah in its source, the Bible, he had a less than outstanding track record. But, in a way it's the story of how someone can learn from their mistakes, and that's what life is all about!" (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left Nov 29, 2006: "My son is also named Jonah. It is perfect for him- strong and pure." (Report as inappropriate)
Comment left May 31, 2006: "It's a name with a real pedigree, not some made-up name that sounds like a kitchen appliance brand, like Blaine or Caden or Logan." (Report as inappropriate)
