I think of it as a boys name but it has turned into a unisex name as I'm seeing more and more girls with the same name. It's a trendy name that 40 years from now is going to look as dated as leisure suits. We got the name from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. We could not agree on a good, solid and unique male name until we heard the name Jaeden in one episode during the wee hours of the night in 1995. Wow, it's been a long time." Not wanting to be like the others, I choose to find a unique name. I like the actor Eric Braeden from The Young and The Restless. I was going to name him Braeden but being that I didn't want the Br I somehow came up with Jaeden instead. Even though I didn't use the full Braeden name, I still have some of it in there!" Comment left May 23, 2006: "Well, my we named my son Jaeden. Long story short...my husband liked Aiden, I thought something was missing so I went though the alphabet adding letting to Aiden. Jaiden came out and we both loved it, although I wasn't crazy about the spelling. So I looked up other ways to spell Jay and came up with Jae.
