Comment left Feb 04, 2009: "there is certainly many variations of this word/name, though I think that the spelling Isai, is a Spanish variant of the Arabic word for Jesus or Jesse. Keep in mind that Arabic and Hebrew are both Semitic languages and also that Spanish is mostly Latin and Arabic (from the Moors). This is certainly not an English name though, as many websites report. My best guess though is that the English variant was derived from the Spanish version." (Report as inappropriate)

I was born out of the states and the person that wrote my birth certificate added a "y" (I am so pissed) so now almost nobody knows how to pronounce my name. Last year I received a call from my school and the lady said: "can i talk to hmm, urg, huh, emm y-s-a-i-" and I said "yes this y-s-a-i-" Those people messed up my name, but I love it.
