Ira is not a girl's name, as many people think or have been led to believe. It is a male name and has always been so. There were never any girl's named Ira in the bible. It saddens me to see that Ira has been 'feminised' like so many other boy's names. Ira may have a gentle sound but that does not mean it is feminine!
