Gabriel, does get the female version quite often at his daycare nursery where he goes, which is annoying, and I am a little concerned about the teasing he may experience at school, but once Gabriel reaches adulthood, I hope he apreciates it. Comment left Apr 25, 2007: "I'm a male named Gabriel, and I'm very proud of my name. The biggest difficulty is generally people pronouncing it as "Gabrielle", the feminine variant. However, I mostly introduce myself and am known as simply Gabe. For some reason I've never felt comfortable meeting a new person and saying, "My name is Gabe." Perhaps because the first syllable is stressed and it sounds like "Gay". This has definitely been fodder for some minor teasing as a child, but it was never that bad. When I was younger I got mad at people calling me "Gabe the babe", although now I would be very pleased. Yup, all in all, I've been very happy with my name and am glad my parents named me Gabriel."
